Resolute Postecoglou Insists 'Grant Me Chance' Amid Pressure

The Forest manager has not won none of his seven games following his succession of the previous manager in September

Under-fire coach the Forest head coach presented a heartfelt explanation about his career as he vowed to secure trophies with the club allowed sufficient opportunity

The experienced manager is being questioned having been unable to secure victory in a single one of his opening seven games after taking over from the previous boss in September

Nottingham Forest were considering available choices throughout the break, with ex-Burnley boss Sean Dyche among the names considered to possibly take over despite Postecoglou having been in charge for less than six weeks

The team welcomes the Blues this weekend and Postecoglou gave an extended speech during his pre-game news conference, as Forest occupying 17th position in the Premier League

"Many observers concentrate on the negatives while I observe at what is growing," he stated, "I'm truly optimistic since I work with a group of young players ready to evolve"

He also confirmed there was no discussion with the chairman the Greek businessman throughout the break

"I refuse to spend my energy regarding external perceptions" he added

"I simply don't conform, not just at Forest, throughout football" he clarified

Previous Club History

"I took over the North London club and was informed by the leadership back then 'this organization must secure a trophy'"

"He said 'we attempted to bring winners in, Jose [Mourinho] and Antonio [Conte] but it didn't succeed, we require a different approach'"

"I was a bit taken aback by that statement as I view myself as a winner"

Defending His Record

"We secured fifth place my first year" he noted

"Whenever Harry Kane scored a goal I'd wish he would have continued for additional time because it would have been useful to have him post our top-five position"

"But somehow that season has vanished from the record books" he asserted

"Therefore, we arrive at the existing circumstances where there's a different story to tell, that perhaps I am not a disappointing tactician who got lucky to get this job"

"but maybe I'm a leader that when allowed opportunity, the narrative consistently concludes identically"

"At all my previous clubs, the result is consistent - through my leadership celebrating success"

He claimed European silverware in May - Tottenham's first trophy in nearly two decades along with their initial continental trophy after forty-one years

Former Celtic manager also promised, allowed sufficient opportunity, he would persist with his track record of winning trophies everywhere he has managed
