New England Match Longest Victory Run Since Brady Years with Win Against Jets
First-year player Henderson has recorded five touchdowns this season
New England equaled their longest winning run since the Tom Brady era as they defeated AFC East opponents the Jets 27-14 in the NFL
First-year standout Henderson shone brightly with three TDs as the Patriots claimed an eighth straight win for the initial occasion since star signal-caller Brady's closing campaign with the team in 2019
QB Drake Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a TD, completing 25 out of 34 attempts
The triumph bolsters the Patriots advantage at the top of the AFC East as they moved to a 9-2 record, with the New York at the foot after dropping to a 2-8 mark
The visitors had taken the lead at Gillette Stadium with quarterback Fields running in a five-yard TD to cap the New York's opening drive
But the home team fought back in the second period as Henderson ran in two seven-yard touchdowns before the running back hauled in a throw from Maye at the rear of the endzone midway through the third quarter to extend the lead to 21-7
"It was a big time for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep gaining experience," Maye commented on the rookie. "He wants to be great."
Fields found Metchie toward the end of the third quarter to close the gap for the Jets but Borregales booted a two kicks in the fourth quarter as the Patriots wrapped up the win
