Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Arrives, Introducing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The follow-up to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the universe. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Space-Faring Quest Based on Iconic Releases
Much like the Wii console classics that provide its foundation, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. Throughout his extensive trek, he will encounter once more some well-known personalities, for instance the Luma, a popular character from the previous film.
Yet it looks like Mario and his sibling Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently wields metal-based powers. Notably, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Returns and Expands
The film will see the return of the initial voice actors, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
The new Mario movie is set to release around the time of the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo has a trio of new releases publicly declared for the upcoming year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
